The Arkansas Urban Search and Rescue Team (AR-TF1) has been serving the national community in times of need. The team is designed to respond to a variety of disasters, including earthquakes, hurricanes, typhoons, storms and tornadoes, floods, dam failures, technological accidents, terrorist activities and hazardous materials releases where victims may be trapped, lost or injured. With only 3 hours notice, this group can be on its way with up to 150 highly trained members and millions of dollars worth of specialized tools and equipment to a community in need.
Pulaski County is the sponsoring agency of the Team, providing administrative staffing, warehouse space and other infrastructure needs; however, the team is also composed of experts from fire and police departments as well as professionals from the civilian ranks.
It is the mission of Arkansas Task Force 1 to maintain preparedness for an activation and response to urban search and rescue environments on both a local and national level. To successfully fulfill this mission, AR-TF1 will continuously build those capabilities necessary to effectively plan, prepare, respond, and perform in those communities overwhelmed by the impact of a large-scale incident.
Arkansas Task Force 1 also known as ARTF-1, is a statewide Urban Search and Rescue Team. AR-TF1 150 members that include Firefighters, Doctors, Nurses, Structural Engineers, Canine Handlers, Professors, Police Officers, Pilots, HAM Radio Operators, and many other professionals throughout different fields.
